28 shares = 100% of herd
1 share = 1/28th of total production
Production will range from “dry period” which will be approx 7gal/wk total
production to 28 gal/wk total at peak production and will likely be more than 28 gallons. Peak production will be approximately May
through November. From November to April the production will vary depending on when the herd is bred. My goal is to not have a “dry
period,” which is typical in a herd share program. I am working to provide milk for the shareholders year-around, but there will be
times when you will get less than a gallon a week per share (and there will be times when you will get more).
Price per share is $25
Monthly
boarding fee per share will be $40.
Example: If you buy 2 shares, the first month you will pay $50 for 2 shares plus $80 for first
month’s boarding fee. The share price is one time and each month after you will only pay the $80 boarding fee.
You may pick up your
milk on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis.
Milk will be frozen in ½ gallons ZipLoc Bags for shareholders who wish to pick up less
than once a week. Frozen milk does tend to separate but it does not affect the taste.
If you are interested in becoming a shareholder
or would like to view a contract, please feel free to contact us.
How Our Milk Share Works
In Colorado, it is against the law to buy and sell raw milk (as in unpasteurized). But it is not illegal to drink fresh milk from the goat that you own! This means you cooperatively own a goat and board it at our farm.
